Inground Lap Pools: Designed For Fitness
There are many great uses for swimming pools. The first thing that comes to many people's minds when they think of pools is the beautiful hotel and resort pools, or the type that is only recreational in purpose. The pool can have great benefits in fitness, however, and there has been a great increase in the popularity of pools for exercise and thus more pools are being constructed with this in mind.
For an effective workout, you should consider inground lap pools. Swimming is an excellent workout for all different types of people. For those that have joint problems and experience discomfort with walking or other forms of exercise, swimming may be a great alternative. Swimming does not put the pressure on the joints as other forms of exercising do. A lap pool with a flowing current may be a perfect solution to achieve the desired exercise while avoiding pain.
As the name would imply, lap pools are built specifically for exercise in the form of 'lap swimming'. Unique among swimming pool designs, the lap pool is usually of a rectangular shape, which is different from the circular form that is often used for recreational swimming pools. Another unique part of the design of lap pools is that they tend to be much slimmer, often only one lane in width.
A neat feature to some lap pools is to have a flowing current. A one directional current can be added to both the above ground or inground lap pools. The purpose of this is to provide an endless swimming pool feature. This provides an excellent workout for the avid exerciser as they attempt to swim against the current.
Inground lap pools may be placed either indoors or outdoors. Indoor pools have the obvious advantage of being less sensitive to outdoor temperature fluctuations, but even an outdoor pool can be made to work year-round. Heated pools are popular among both business owners and homeowners, and make swimming far more comfortable regardless of the season.
The price of installing a lap pool varies, depending on the size of the pool and what features are included. As a general rule, the larger the pool, the more it will cost, and the price increases further with "add-ons" such as automated current and heating systems. Many, however, when considering their exercise and personal needs, find these installation costs to be a wise investment.
Swimming pools have great benefits for fitness, and there has been a great increase in the popularity of pools for exercise. Not only is swimming an aerobic exercise, making it similar to walking and running, but the stress placed on the joints in swimming is much less since the water supports the body. With fitness in mind, special pools have been created, both above ground and inground lap pools, as well as the endless swimming pool. Depending on lap pool design, the price of installation can be very reasonable, and the benefits of physical fitness may justify that price.
